Denver Comic Con 2013

Here with my best friend and artist/illustrator/graphic designer at the third largest comic convention in the US.

Always fun to see all the cosplayers out and about.

  1. Ah! Comic con! Tons of my friends go there! I just got back from a 3 day A-kon (cosplay convention) over in Texas myself. What a fun coincidence! Those places are always a blast to shoot at. Cosplayers are so welcoming to being filmed!

    • Hi Kayla,

Yes, I am a total nerd though I don’t look or act like one. It has a lot to do with upbringing. I grew up with Manga, Anime, Scifi and drawing, so of course I love these events. I’ve actually never attended an event until I moved to Colorado. We have an Anime convention here called, “Nan Desu Kan” or NDK to those in the know. There are tons of video game and anime cosplayers at this event. It’s not as large as the Denver Comic Con, but I think the costumes are better per capita. I love taking pictures at that event (and yes, cosplayers are awesome photo subjects). The majority of costumers at DCC were borderline Halloweeners, but there were a few true cosplayers there. I had a lot of fun and I’m going to share an artist table with my buddy next year. We’re working on a comic book together this year.

      • Q,
That’s fantastic! You speak the truth though, I would never have guessed that you would attend an event like that. Ha ha! You’re right too, cosplayers that put that extra effort into their outfits really shine at those events. I love to attend them for the love of anime/manga and the chance to meet so many up and coming film students as well, it’s crazy how many you can meet at those things. I tugged the big camera we got for University to A-kon to test out and grabbed quiet a few cameramen’s attention for it. Have you tried bringing yours to any cons? And yet again! Another coincidence! I am sharing an artist’s table for the first time at the next convention I will attend (Anime-fest.) for a comic that my friends and I have made over the years as well! Ha ha! I hope your table sells well and gets a ton of attention to your comic! Maybe someday we will run into each other at a convention!

      • My best friend is also a nerd. More so than me. During the con, I was lucky enough to be invited to dinner with a few comic book writers and artists. As for my Sony FS100, I don’t lug it around since I have a DSLR. It’s a little more compact than the Sony. Hopefully, I’ll see you at graduation. Looking forward to it.
